Honest comparison of rainwater tank brands

Here’s an honest comparison of five rainwater tank brands

I've put down an honest comparison of what I believe are the top rainwater tank brands on the market in NSW and southeast QLD

They’re in no particular order of priority in any way; they are purely to give you a picture of the different manufacturers in the industry and my honest opinion on the pros and cons of each.

Tank World

Tank world has been manufacturing for a long time, one of the longest in the industry, and makes a pretty good quality tank. They are 100% Australian owned and have a factory in Swan Hill Victoria. They are one of the few, along with Rapid Plas that make a tank with the proper corrugated profile. They are constantly doing special deals on tanks and pumps. It is important to note that when buying a tank world tank to make sure you get a price including delivery, as most prices you see advertised don’t include delivery.

Clark Tanks

Clark Tanks are part of the NPI group along with National Poly tanks. They’re a good old brand of tanks, well respected in the rural market. Some may see them as more of a rural brand. They have one of the longest warranties in the industry and while this can seem like a good thing, it doesn’t mean it’s a better quality tank than for example a bushman tank which has 10 years. Also make sure you read their warranty conditions. The brand has changed ownership once or twice but is generally seen as a middle of the road tank.

National Poly

National poly tanks are again part of the NPI group. Like Clark tanks they are privately owned and have been manufacturing tanks for over 20 years. Certainly not the most expensive in the industry but they do make a reasonably decent tank. My honest opinion here is that if you’re not stressed about looks then this could be the tank for you. Also, a pretty long warranty, though again, doesn’t mean that much. It’s probably worthwhile reading a separate article I wrote specifically on rainwater tank warranties. Also like all rainwater tank brands, watch out for the quality and usability of the pump that you might get as part of the package. You want to make sure it’s going to do the job that you need it to.

Bushman Tanks

Bushman’s Tanks specializes in water tanks and storage solutions for Household, Agricultural and Commercial use. They also offer a comprehensive range of storage solutions for a wide range of Industrial applications. In my opinion I would regard them as a reasonably premium brand and have been making tanks for over 30 years. They have a 10-year warranty and have a good range of shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, they don’t make a corrugated tank in the proper corrugated profile.

Duraplas

Duraplas is another one that is Australian owned and has been owned by the same owners since the beginning. They manufacture near the gold coast and deliver up and down the coast. They have a good range of tank sizes. They process their own raw material in-house. They are again certainly not the most expensive on the market and I can’t honestly say what the quality of their tanks are, but they have been around for a long time and have a pretty good warranty.

There are a number of other manufacturers that could be added here, but I believe these along with Rapid Plas are the top 5 that service NSW and southeast QLD. Obviously, each manufacturer says their tank is the best out there and while yes there certainly are some tanks that are better than others, it is worthwhile doing your research on the different brands and choose a tank that best suits what is most important to you.

At Rapid Plas we’d love the opportunity to talk to you about your needs and what is important to you. Whether that be the looks of the tank, the quality and strength of the tank, the warranty, the colour to match your roof or gutter, or to just talk though what to look out for when installing or maintaining your tank, we’d love to help you through this.
